Conan, the...

I purchased Conan the Barbarian + Destroyer as a 2 movie combo from Wal-mart for 9.95. I really enjoy these old epic action films. They don't make em' like they used to. Arnold as Conan, no one else could have filled those shoes. No one!

I popped the Conan dvd in, and started watching. At the same time I logged into my hotmail. When one signs into hotmail, useful daily articles appear first before the email to entice bored souls to read it.

"Dog prays at Japanese Zen Temple". I was intrigued. Was the dog truly praying? Or did the monks teach the dog to pray? Turns out the Chihuahua was only copying his master, however, it was not of his master's prompting. The dog just started going through the motions of praying on his own. The master also wanted to teach his pupil how to meditate. That's when I made the connection.

Here's the synchronistic kicker. The dog's name was Conan, just like the barbarian! What a juxtaposition. Coanan the Barbarian, and Conan the praying Chihuahua . As the title screen of the movie flashed before me, I looked up at the screen, then at the cute doggy. I realized that perhaps the great powers that be was trying to tell me something.

I'd been meaning to start meditating again. I suppose this was the sign to tell me to stop meaning to do something, and just go ahead and do it.

Besides the meditation thing, I believe there's a deeper message, one that is not so easy to explain. I will have to meditate on it.

---Update---
Towards the end of the movie, Conan the Barbarian prays to his God, Krom (The God of Steel) for the first time ever. He prayed for revenge. He further added something to the effect of, "if you won't grant me this prayer, then to Hell with you."

New Yoykas

This event actually occurred last Monday, but I'd been too busy/lazy to post about it until now.

------------------------------------------

New Yoykas are great...NOT! Well, some of them may be great people, but it appears none them are good drivers, no matter where they are. Take this morning for instance. Out of my neighborhood I cannot take a left turn to get to work due to a median. I have to take a right and then U-turn at the light. It's a T-intersection with the top of the T to my right, 2 lanes going all three ways. I'd been sitting at this light for quite a while. It's a busy street. Sometimes I'm forced to wait several minutes.

I waited for about 3 minutes. In real time, 3 minutes doesn't sound that long, but in drive-wait time, it's equivalent to about 21 minutes. So I'd been waiting at this light for 21 minutes. I missed a couple of openings already and scolded myself for being a coward. Being called a coward doesn't sit well with me, and makes me extremely impatient. (Read More)

greetings

"'It doesn't happen all at once,' said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.'
